What is a DirectVP number?

You have the option to get a DirectVP number for use with your Sorenson videophone. A DirectVP number is a real number on the standard voice telephone network. Therefore, hearing people can call your videophone from any standard voice telephone. All telephone calls placed to your DirectVP number will be automatically sent to Sorenson VRS. Because your personal DirectVP number identifies you, the hearing caller will not have to give the Sorenson interpreter your videophone number. The interpreter can just begin relaying your conversation.

Can My Deaf Contacts Use My DirectVP Number?

You can give your DirectVP number to all of your hearing contacts and to all the deaf videophone users you know. Anyone, whether they are deaf or hearing, can directly call your videophone using your DirectVP number. That's why we named this feature "DirectVP." Other deaf videophone users can call you by dialing either your DirectVP number or your Sorenson videophone number. But again, once they get used to your DirectVP number they won't need to use the Sorenson videophone number.

Why would I want a DirectVP number?
