Apply for a Free Sorenson Videophone

Place free Sorenson VRS® (SVRS®) calls anytime with the Sorenson videophone. With a Sorenson videophone, you enjoy clear video communication and many advanced features, such as the Sorenson Video Center, SignMail® and Call Waiting. Installation and technical support are always free. These services and features are available when you choose Sorenson as your default VRS provider.

Choosing a Default Provider

Thank you for your interest in applying for a Sorenson videophone. You can use the videophone to make free video relay calls through SVRS. Please review the following eligibility requirements before completing the application. To have a Sorenson videophone installed you must:

  1. Be deaf or hard-of-hearing
  2. Use ASL to communicate
  3. Have a high-speed internet connection in place at the location where you wish to have a videophone installed

We recommend a minimum connection speed of 256 kbps. Please review the section below about internet service providers if you don’t already have a high-speed internet connection.

When you apply for a Sorenson videophone, you automatically select Sorenson as your default VRS provider. Sorenson will provide you with a local 10-digit number. You can take this number with you to another provider if you choose. For Sorenson to correctly route your 911 calls to local emergency service providers, Sorenson must have your correct street address. You can update your address at anytime through the videophone or by calling a customer information representative (CIR) at 801-386-8500. You can also click here to update your address. We will contact you to let you know that we have received your current address. For more information about 10-digit numbers and the limitations and risks associated with using Sorenson VRS or IP Relay services to place a 911 call, please visit: www.sorenson.com/disclaimer.

An online test is determining if your internet connection is compatible with a VP-200. Once the test is completed, click the APPLY NOW button to start the application process.

Do you have an existing number that you want to move to SVRS?

If you already have a local 10-digit number, but don’t have a Sorenson videophone, click the “Apply Now” button above and fill out an application for a Sorenson videophone. You will also need to fill out a form to move your number to SVRS. This is called “porting your number.”

Updating Your Contact Information

Update your contact information if you move, change your name or create a new email address. It is important to keep your contact information current so you can easily be located should you need to call 911. During an emergency, if the person calling becomes unresponsive, help will be sent to the location registered with Sorenson. If you move without updating the location information of the videophone you use, help could mistakenly be sent to your old address.

It’s easy to keep your address up to date. You can do this right through the VP-200 that you use. From the home screen select the “Location” icon. You’ll be able to update your address information. Use the remote to update the information if it is not correct.

Each time the power is reconnected to the VP-200, you will be asked to verify your current address information. By having your current location information, we will be ready to send emergency help if you need it.
